Top Ten Atheist Websites
You could have been executed for denying god, the Bible and the Church. As evidence of these changed times, atheism has become a widespread stance on the question of whether or not god(s) exists. (Notice that I did not say worldview or belief. Atheism is neither.) People are now able to be comfortable in their lack of belief in a god or gods, so much so that countless atheist websites, blogs and podcasts are available worldwide. Here are only ten websites, but they are ten of the best, in this writer’s humble, though atheistic, opinion.
10. Joe Holman’s Blog
Joe Holman is a former minister who blogs about his deconversion from a Christian to an outspoken atheist. His blog posts range from posts about his early life among some arguably mentally unhealthy Christians to his life in general.
What is so cool about this website?
Joe Holman’s blog is special because it is written by a relatively intelligent man who has seen the world from both sides of the fence. It is a rare treat to read about Christianity from someone who has an open mind on the subject (i.e. is speaking about Christianity without damning all atheists to hell.). His posts are lengthy and thorough, yet fun to read. I hope you enjoy reading his deconversion story as much as I did.
9. Christian Forums
Okay, christianforums.com is not meant to be an atheist site, but for atheists who are looking to know a bit more about where Christians are coming from this is the site to visit. Unfortunately, most of the forums that well-meaning atheists would want to converse in are Christian only. Think of it like an exclusive club for Christians – like heaven. Nonetheless, these forums are available to anyone who wants to read them. As a warning, some of the posts may make atheists feel uncomfortable or offended.
What is so cool about this website?
Atheists who are a little zealous about their lack of religion love to read posts by people who are devout Christians. This website gives atheists that opportunity, though it may be a bit more than any atheist bargains for when looking into Christian websites. Sometimes it is best to read and not get involved in the conversations going on.
8. Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster
The Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster is a religion populated by pastafarians. It is certainly a farce perpetrated by atheists who are demonstrating that just about anyone can make up a religion and gain followers. Therefore, it is plausible that the world’s religions were created by people who were trying to control other people.
What is so cool about this website?
As mentioned above, the Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster is a farce. However, the website only makes that clear to those of us who are open to such anti-religious satire. It really is a bit of harmless fun and social experimenting, but the Church denies that. (Haha) If you
