How to make Playlist files in Windows media player

So you want to make a podcast? Or you just want to show off your favorite playlists on your website? Well, there’s an easier way to do it than uploading each individual song. You can create an .m3u file with windows media player. It can be uploaded and transferred in the same manner as a single audio file, but it contains an entire windows media player playlist.

To start, open up windows media player. Now, just drag and drop all the songs you want in your playlist into the now playing window. You don’t even need to create a new playlist, although you can just open up an existing playlist if you so choose. Once you have all the songs you want, access the menu [depending on your windows media player version, it could either be visible across the top bar, or you may have to right-click the bar on the top of the screen] and select File> Save now playing list as… And then select .m3u out of the options drop down box. When you click save, you will most likely see your new playlist listed under “playlists” in your windows media player sidebar.

To find your file on your computer, right click the file in the sidebar and select, “Open file location.” An explorer window will open up. In the address bar of the window, you will see the directory that holds your file. When you go to upload your playlist to your website or podcast host, this is the directory that you will use.
