3 Ways To Get Royalty-Free Music
Whether you’re making a short film, podcast or website, there are many reasons that you might one day need some royalty-free music. It’s usually hard to get the appropriate rights to use mainstream music for your creations, so here are my three main ideas for you:
3. Buy It
Probably the most simple option, it’s also the most expensive. There are many online stores that sell royalty-free music for you to download, such as RoyaltyFreeMusic.com.
2. “Borrow” it
There are a lot of very talented people on the internet. Some of them make music, and a fraction of those share it online for free. And a fraction of those again will let you use their works with your own content. The only catch with most of these are that you need to say where you got the music in your work, for example the credits in your video or podcast.
It is often hard to find these websites, so here’s one that I found recently and like a lot - GeneralFuzz.net.
1. Make it
This would be the best, if you could manage it, as it gives you something original which you have full control over. Perhaps you know a friend who is a pretty talented musician, or you know a thing or two on the guitar? Make up your own little tune and record it, then you can use sound editing software (such as GarageBand, Audacity or Mixcraft) to give it that final touch.
