Touch 16Gb Ipod

Published on May 2nd, 2010 in iPod Apps

A year ago, I bought the original iPod Touch 16GB. At this point, I think if it has some weaknesses, the package above all to be one of the best iPod available. Now, a year later, Apple released the next generation Touch. I am now for a few days, and that’s what I found: the second generation iPod touch 16 GB is an improvement over the first gene, and come closer to perfection. In this spirit, this review shows a large, and a few minor flaws. It can also be difficult to justify an upgrade of the gene 1-2 unless you simply must have one of the few hardware improvements, and can live with the fact that you may have to buy some of your accessories. Ipod Touch 16GB – The size and dimensions 16GB iPod Touch now sports a more rounded design on the back, it looks a little thinner and more like the original iPhone (not really thinner than it predecessor, only that looks like that). Unfortunately, the back plate is stainless steel, and the plate attracts fingerprints and scratches almost magically. After a year of almost constant use the backplate of my generation First Touch looks a bit wild Etch-a-sketch (I carry in my pocket touch). Interestingly, the glass on the front appears (after one year of intensive use) should really anti gores.Ini back (which also provides custom engraving) that quickly become polluted. I prefer brushed metal / aluminum parts back. I gotta find, but the new iPod Touch 16GB slightly lighter (a few grams) – but it seems thinner (thanks to a sharp design). The rounded edges of my palm to adapt a little better, so that felt right (to be honest, the original Touch was very, very good in this case). Also outside the exact dimensions of the twist. The most visible changes forward, is that the steel from the backplate now frames the glass like that on the original iPhone. Ipod Touch 16GB – Touch screen control and the screen is just gorgeous. This bright, crisp, has great contrast and brightness that can adapt to ambient light. In full sun, just like its predecessor, it becomes difficult to read properly. In the shade was perfect read – feat Screen should consider how to achieve this goal. The display of the color temperature is slightly shifted down (or at least its pompuous: color screen has changed slightly bluish tones of gold, something that will not see unless you have both sides of the device). The touchscreen is very sensitive and I repeat, absolutely scratch-resistant. Surviving a full year in the pocket with metal objects such as keys for me is evidence that endurance (see the back of the stainless steel is a reminder of how bad can it be scratched). As the original Touch, the same problem occurs when you try to control the device ‘blind’ (ie while it is in your pocket): without looking, you can not. Fortunately, Apple has discussed the biggest problem with this design: volume control equipment. set at 480×320 screen resolution, which is very good (and certainly better than my iPod Classic). Interestingly, I found out that ripping videos to this resolution does not necessarily give better results compared to (320×240) screen of the iPod classic, if I rip this resolution, retention of memory. iPod / iTunes After one year the original Touch, I must remember that this device is the source of an iPod – or rather a digital music player. Apparently, although I also use it to play music, this function has been increasingly relegated to the background task – a task, nontheless, that handles very well. Cover Stream, navigation and display functionality has evolved from both (the original. 0 and 2. 0) version, and still the best on the market. Improved support for such a good touch interface displays lyrics for songs in a single tap, bringing the signal volume control / double-click the home button, slide rules When the alphabet titles and navigational are still missing is a search function, though. And, especially given the gorgeous display capabilities and the latest news viewer (and more effective in iTunes), I would love to see the display on the Touch too. The omission (and in my opinion a deliberate (as in bad)), the most important is this: you can not enable mode “hard disk”, i. e. Use the device as mass storage. The biggest advantage is to increase the lifespan of the battery. Crispy Video (still no contrast control, though), and audio playback, just as you expect (again: I’m not audiophile, I am very satisfied with the ability of most audio player) .. Once again I am not using the Apple supplied headphones are white and well below normal. “I use my purchased separately. New to the iPod Touch 16 GB or another second gene is a built-in speakers. The audio quality here is not really terrible, but close. loud, low, and somehow the iPod (mono, of course). I believe that adding the speaker has a specific reason different from HiFi: it makes playing games on a 16GB iPod Touch without headphones much more pleasant. But to listen to music I prefer headphones or active speakers. Frankly, I prefer not to listen to music from loudspeakers. iTunes integration is excellent as before. A sort of bug-fix has made data backup much faster, and both iTunes and touch 2nd generation now boasts a new type of smart playlist called “genius.” Initially, I was not impressed by this feature. Although iTunes 8 has this feature I regarded primarily as a well executed new way to sell song and do not use it. On my iPod Touch 16 GB, but (which is only a part of my library due to memory constraints), this feature literally rocks. On my first day, I re-discover five songs I did not know I had (much less liked). In contrast, the Touch still does not support playlist groups, which is a constant disturbance to me. I am also disappointed that the Touch still can not sync wirelessly, nor can they be used to access shared playlists (other than the download, of course). Applications in the App Store offers this feature, but only for non-DRM’d titles, proving the point that it is possible. Photos (from iPhoto) can also be synchronized to the iPod Touch, and nothing is more fun than showing the capabilities of your iPod with a beautiful photo and “pinch” and “fly” . Interestingly (or rather: unfortunately), iTunes appears to sample large images to a lower resolution, probably to save memory. It might make sense, but I want to be able to exercise control over this feature (ie decide myself what the resolution of the image on the iPod should be). Ipod Touch 16GB – Accessories, Big Bad Ugly Unfortunately, Apple changed the pin (* new *) for the iPod connector. Consequently, some “Made for iPod ‘accessories either do not work, or do not work full again. For example, my Altec Lansing active can not load the new iPod Touch (it has been able to fill the Touch first gen). It’s really, really boring because you do not know if your iPod works with your “Made for iPod devices, and the purchase of new accessories to make the game a chance. My car integration (terrible expensive) iPod, which fortunately still works (including recharging). However, the iPod connector compatibility (or lack thereof) becomes a big mess. Imagine that you want to purchase accessories for your children or friends, and too late to know that it does not work with it. Ipod Touch 16GB – the year WiFi / Internet there is one, I bought an iPod Touch 16 GB, and have integrated Web Kit accessories. Apparently, the addition of WiFi and full access to the Internet is a key element for me. Web browser (a mobile version of Safari) is very capable. Much has been said about the fact that Mobile Safari does not support Flash. This is annoying if you visit sites that use them. The pinch / slide attitudes based interface works so well that I regularly use an iPod Touch 16GB for normal web surfing. The general experience has increased in recent months, probably in small quantities because of the fact that many beed re-designed site with an iPhone in mind. Since the browser menguntungkan. Kecepatan Touch is exactly the same, either inherited WiFi (though still using the 802. 11b / g, and not the n variant) – and depends largely on the hotspot you are connected. This is because the hot spots have been connected to (like a laptop would), and can also connect using WPA. There are other web enabled applications that come with the iPod (Maps, which can determine your position with your position close to the hotspot), Stocks, YouTube, and the weather is nice, but remarkable. WiFi reception range of the average, but certainly under certain laptops. Then, 16GB iPod Touch also comes with Mail, Calendar and Address Boock, and it does not become fieatures killer, especially when combined with an Exchange server or (as Apple would prefer) MobileMe. supports Push Mail technology,”which means that (almost) immediately after a letter signed there (and your Touch is connected to a hotspot), you will be notified by discreep little beep. Reading emails, including mails with rich content works very well. Write something, but Shorts e-mail, on the other hand, disrupt, pulling the troublesome because of the small virtual keyboard). However, only able to do that makes all the difference. The updated schedule has saved my skin several times already, because you do not remember actively sync your iPod after you make changes to the calendar. The integration with Exchange (to the point of writing) remains uneven boys, no messages appearing for s few hours, and suddenly seems a lot at once (I initially suspected a configuration issue on Exchange server, but it does not seem to be the case). Depending on how you configure MobileMe on your Mac, the result is the same as what you can expect from Exchange (with a difference, of course, that Apple is running on the server for you.) Unfortunately, Mobile Me does not currently synchronize your notes. Nicely executed is the integrated iTunes store. So maybe just another mechanism to generate sales, I love the fact that if I hear or remember the song, I can almost always instantly purchase and have it on my iPod Touch 16 GB in a few seconds. Songs purchased on the Touch synced to your main iTunes library (a bit silly ‘Purchased on Touch playlists “). If the download must stop because the network connection is lost (or for other reasons), it will be continued to the Internet connection is restored. Interestingly, sporty (I’m an addict of lame puns) the hardware required to connect to “Nike + iPod accessories integrated sport (for example, you do not need to connect the dongle). I say interesting because this device uses the Bluetooth frequency band, but the 16 GB iPod Touch does not support Bluetooth devices (headset, microphone, the integration of car and printers come to mind). Because I use the shuffle to work-out, this is not a feature for me. “16GB iPod touch – Applications / App Store If Mail, Calendar and Browser are killer applications, Apple has added another killer feature Touch (and iPhone) that extends the usefulness of the device (and customization) by orders of magnitude: App. Outwardly similar to the iTunes Store, here you can choose from hundreds of applications (of variable quality, though), the purchase and install it immediately. Prices range from free to around 10 USD (there are more expensive titles, but most are sold around USD). Apps are presented in three different ways (“star” top “, a search by category), plus you can search for keywords. Although the “signal to noise ratio is not very good (there are lots of totally useless or the application started), there are some applications that are both jaw droppingly really enhance your Touch. Among the more Apple is the first (free) ‘Remote application that allows remote control iTunes on a Mac or Apple TV – real-time full visual feedback and seek full capacity (expected, is also a real advantage for users of Apple TV because it offers a virtual keyboard as an input device. Not having Apple TV, I can not comment on this). Then there is an application that lets you play all your music (well, unprotect at least) Touch – via the Internet wherever you are (Interestingly, these applications are not manufactured by Apple). Very improve the usefulness of iPod Touch is the electronic book reader (iPod Touch 16GB and the other model is almost perfect for Rading books, giving you the key sentiment “Star Trek trivia) and newsreader offline. Another important category are applications that allow you to easily transfer (and see) the files from your PC / Mac to the iPod Touch 16GB. I expect Apple to integrate this functionality into iTunes (perhaps not the perfect support for PDF) but third-party vendors are more than happy to fill this gap for you. And for the geeks there are VNC and SSH clients that finally allow them to control their server cluster using the iPod. For those who want radio, there numerous offers for IP radios. course, it means that your iPod must remain in range of hotspots to use this feature. Mine did not, so now I also have a radio – and only rediscovered why I do not miss it. I am not a radio, I think. I know that many people, and want to go apple last mile and also added an FM tuner. Two Apps I’m sure it will happen soon in the App Store because other a 16GB iPod Touch: support for an external microphone. Apple Hi-end earphones have both a remote and a microphone, and it says compatible with both ( and only two genes 16GB) iPod Touch. notebook audio, and VoIP applications (for Skype) that allows phone functionality over WiFi are sure to follow soon (note: I have seen this application is available in stores in the United States, but unfortunately they have not been available in Switzerland, too, I interpret Apple’s docs that the second gen 16GB iPod Touch and other models support external microphones, as they have not send combination microphone / remote headphones to me). And then there are games. They are currently the largest category of all applications. 16GB iPod Touch, with built-in accelerometer, 480×320 color screen and touch interface allows a device for playing good, and developers have developed some really fun and innovative games (“Toy Bot ‘may be a good example). Apple may be aware that this is becoming increasingly important for a 16GB iPod Touch: the Gen 2 device sports a speaker that makes sense – except to improve the gaming experience ( believe me: playing an accelerometer-based game with headphones on can be fun when it is very unattractive). And to improve that experience. IPod Touch 16GB unsuitable for control pad”based classic games (eg Tetris, Pac Man) and adapted most of them suffer from 16GB iPod Touch function. Games However, others are well suited for touch input accelerometer / (Monkey Ball, Crash Cart etc), or a natural fit (Labyrinth, Sudoku, Solitair, Othello) Super-odd can also download the iPhone / Touch SDK and create your own applications. Not for the faint of heart, like the first time you download several gigabytes (Apple’s environmental Xcode), and then have to code in Objective-C (extension of the standard C) and use the Cocoa frameworks. In addition, you’ll need a Mac to do. The environment is actually very good, and includes the iPhone Simulator to test your software before placement. I should mention that most of the improvements (with the exception of the upgrade of equipment: microphone support, a support Nike, volume buttons and battery life) can have for free at the touch of a gene (if you have two. 0 Update), or a little money if you havn’t updated yet. Unless you (like me) want the larger memory (my generation has only 16 GB), decision to upgrade to the two genes can be difficult. 16GB iPod Touch in the Summary: 2nd Generation 16GB iPod Touch is almost perfect device. It combines high-end video / audio, world-class UI, great sports games, hundreds of applications and full access to the Internet in one package ever. To sum up perfectly: Untouchable. Well – almost. He has a big flaw if you invested in accessories: it may not be compatible with them, like Apple changed the iPod connector pinout (again). With reservations, I recommend to anyone Touch. Also great: owners of first generation iPod Touch can get most of these goodies with the upgrade, a software simple and low cost. Press the big screen + + + accelerometer based motion interface both for audio + controls + great integration with your music library (via iTunes) + + + long battery life wireless music store Wi-Fi App Store ( killer feature) + President + Mail for games, calendar and address book with Push + WiFi (killer feature) + Remote App (free) for PC / Mac iTunes s’ / AppleTV + SDK freely available to anyone + Microphone and remote support + Nike + iPod without dongle Misses – incompatibility with “Made for iPod ‘device’ (bad, bad, bad) – the rear plate is stainless steel (fingerprints and scratches easily) – No wireless sync – no wireless playback of streamed iTunes content (AppStore application stream unprotected content can, though) – no visualizer – no search function – no playlist groups (why, oh why) -? no GPS nor FM radio – Notes not sync with MobileMe – no hard drive mode – no sync documents (except third party Apps) – downsampling of photos – now on top 32 GB (nearest 64) – not BluetoothLebih Details …
