All our friends are considering buying a tablet pc now. There are many choices nowadays. What should we consider before making our decision?

1) Usage How would you like to use the tablet pc? Is it mainly for your job? Or is it mainly for pleasure? The usage is the main point to guide our decision. For example, if you are an artist who loves to use the tablet pc for drawing and creativity, it would be better for you to choose ipad at the moment. There are some special paint brushes in the market which can be used on ipad. However, if you constantly browse flash sites, it may be more convenient for you to get Android 2.2 or above machine which already support flash. ( If we jail break the ipad, there are some way to view flash stuff. However, Android 2.2 or above already support that.)

2) Platform Apple’s iOS and Google’s Android are the two market leaders. They have their strong points and weak points. iOS (ipad) is having more apps than Android at the moment. More application choices are on the iOS plaftform rather than on the Android platform. However, more android tablet apps will be available as the market shares of Andriod tablet climbing up very rapidly. Android platform has its strong point as well. As Android is the product of Google, its compatibility for Google service is better. For instant, some product reviews show that running Google document on a Android is smoother than running that on Apple’s ipad (iOS).

3) Screen display The size of the nowadays tablet is around 7 inch to 10 inch. If you use the tablet pc mainly for work and especially long-hour work, it is better for you to choose a big screen tablet pc. If you just would like to use that to frequently keep in touch with the internet say playing Facebook, checking email and playing Skype video conferencing. Then I recommend you to buy a smaller screen one as this would be cheaper and lighter in weight. In addition, some of the touchscreen display is resistive and some is capacitive. The type of the touchscreen display also affects your navigation.

4) Hardware First of all, the CPU power is a factor. This affects the performance of apps. Another important factor is whether it is using Wifi or using 3G to connect the internet. If you would access online banking often and prefer higher security, it is better you choose 3G built in tablet. Some new tablets now have HDMI out and we can output the screen to a big beautiful TV.

5) Battery If you are going to use it for long hour on the road, it is an important factor to check how long the battery last. You may have to carry a charger or even bring one more backup battery if your tablet’s battery does not last long.

6) Price On average, Apple ipad should be relatively expensive than android product. Of course, there are some exceptions. Hope to above points would give you some thinking points for making a good choice.
